What is a mock-up?

mock-up is an elastic dental splint that is made so that you can see and test your future veneers in your mouth. The great advantage is that you can see the new situation directly in your mouth and decide at home whether you like it or what needs to be changed.

And all this without having to carry out an operation on your teeth.

Creating a mock-up also has other advantages.

Firstly, you can test how functional the veneers are and secondly, you can select the tooth colour in advance with a mock-up. This allows you to see and get to know your “new” smile in advance.

A mock-up is particularly suitable for patients who are unhappy with the colour, shape and position of their teeth, but have little idea of how they might look after treatment.

The first step is to take a digital impression of the actual situation with the Trios 5 scanner.

Then a model of your jaw is printed out with the digital printer.

Our dental technician then models the desired situation to be achieved by the treatment on the printed model. This is also known as creating a wax-up. This allows you to see what the result might look like in the model.

The next step is the fabrication of the mock-up, the elastic splint, which is placed on the wax-up model.

This allows you to view the aesthetic change at your leisure and the dentist can check all functional conditions and carry out a phonetic check, focussing on the F, S and Sh sounds.
